In what might go down as one of the biggest blunders in sports history, the Detroit Lions accidentally fired their division winning coach Dan Campbell via email today.
Sheila Ford Hamp, principal owner and chair of the Lions offered an apology to the Detroit fanbase.
“We take full responsibility for this unfortunate mishap. We have become so accustomed to firing our head coach at this point in January that it had become second nature – almost muscle memory. Our email servers were set to send the annual firing emails this January, and our IT department forgot to turn off auto-send. We are doing everything we can to bring Coach Campbell back to this newly proud organization.”
